Tires Production Process

The production process consists of four key steps: mixing, calendering, molding and vulcanizing.

Mixing

The mixing process is the actual manufacturing of tire rubber. Unique ingredient ratios are researched and pilot-produced based on the desired tire properties, with each tire consisting of up to 30 components, including natural rubber, high-quality carbon black, fillers and other ingredients.

Calendering

After the rubber is mixed and cooled, it is extruded and calendered. During this process, the rubber is cut into the structural parts that make up the shape of the tire. Other components, such as tire beads, cord ply and belts, are also produced in the calendering process.

Molding

This is the process of manufacturing a tire from the inside out, placing key components such as beads, cord ply, steel belts and tread. The end result is what's known as a "green tire," one that's essentially finished but not yet ready for the road.

Curing

Finally, the tire is vulcanized in a vulcanizer with a hot die to make a finished tire that can be used in commercial fleets.
